We’re leaving tonight and heading to D.C. for Sunday’s National Equality March. I’m looking forward to marching with my partner of nearly nine years and our friends. It’s time that gays and lesbians in committed long-term relationships be able to marry, just like our straight friends and family members. It’s about dignity, respect and equality under the law. We’re not looking for special rights, just equal rights. I don’t think that is asking too much.
I’ve once again included a clip from MSNBC host Keith Olbermann. It was his “special comment” following the passage of Prop. 8 in California that changed that state’s law from allowing same-sex marriage to denying it. I believe that Mr. Olbermann’s comment sums up the entire fight for marriage equality so well. “This isn’t about yelling. This isn’t about politics. This is about the human heart.”
