lighter sesame chicken – everyday food challenge

Confession time. I’ve made this recipe for Lighter Sesame Chicken four times in the last two weeks. It is insanely good. There’s something about the sweet and savory glaze that the honey and soy sauce create. The Everyday Food magazine recipe calls for broccoli as the added vegetable.  I’ve been using fresh greens and love the crispy crunch they add. I’m not the biggest fan of Chinese take-out, but this very simple homemade alternative pleases me to no end. And Greg’s not complained that it’s graced our dinner table so often. What’s your favorite homemade “take-out” dinner?

  1. Mine would be Vietnamese Pho: Beef Noodle Soup. But it’s more of a summer dish because it has a lot of summer herbs. But I’ve eaten in a few places that have almost no accompaniments and still loved the dish. Worth trying to see if you like it before you make it because you’ll have enough to feed an army.

  2. This is pretty high on the list of favorites – it looks (and bet it is) far better than take out!

Is the sauce just honey, soy sauce and sesame seeds? It just seems too easy!

    • 3 tablespoons of honey, 2 tablespoons of soy sauce (we used the reduced sodium), 2 tablespoons of sesame seeds and 1 clove of garlic finely minced.

  4. This looks delicious. I ill need to make it soon.

  5. Measurements noted – planned for this weekend! Thanks Michael, happy cooking!

  6. how many pounds of chicken did you use for this recipe??? if serving for 9 people, what is ur recommendation ?
